History

How many times have you gone through your belongings and wondered who that photo was? I know many people don’t like to think about what happens when someone dies, but as a volunteer with Red Cross and other agencies, I see people who are not prepared for this aspect of life. Over and over again as I volunteer for organizations right now, each one of them is asking how are we going to continue to recruit members, recruit funding? If our organizations are going to continue to future generations, we have to preserve the unique history that our organization has.

With women in Amateur Radio, that can only be done by educating the next generation of YL’s about the past so they have an understanding of the great challenges the former leaders of our accomplished on our behalf. You can help preserve our history by documenting both in your columns and local ham radio clubs the success that YL amateur radio clubs have had all over the country in each region. By writing down the name, callsign and event of the people in the photos that you preserve or donate to the organization. These little steps will help to ensure that our organization continues into future generations who will be able to continue the legacy of the original women who founded our organization.
